Forgione. “Outdoor recreation is not only a major contributor to Florida’s economy, but also educates and cultivates the next generation of environmental stewards.” The Florida couldn’t agree more!

The Guide understands that approximately 4,000 residents were surveyed for the following results. Overall, 80% of Florida residents were satisfied with the variety of outdoor recreation in their country, and it was not only water based activities that ranked high. Florida Travel Guide, again, doesn’t find this shocking!

It’s no surprise to any of us at the Guide that beaches ranked top of the list of favorite outdoor activities, but the following are other popular recreational activities:
• 63% – saltwater beach activities
• 49% – wildlife viewing
• 46% – fishing
• 44% – cycling
• 40% – picnicking
Florida Travel Guide to other activities that ranked high among total days spentAlthough saltwater beach activities and outdoor pool swimming ranked high, the Guide thought it worth mentioning the following list of other top activities as far as the total number days spent:
• cycling
• basketball
• baseball and softball
• soccer
• golfing
• tennis
• football
• off- road vehicle driving
• hunting
Florida Travel Guide to the Main Reason for being outdoors:
So what received the highest score as the most important element for doing outdoor recreation? Family time and time spent with friends. The Team just loves that! In fact, 91% rated it as very important. Here is how the key reasons ranked:
• 99% – time spent with family and friends
• 98% – staying active and keeping healthy
• 94% – being close to nature
