Hotel Preferences In Recent Leisure Travel Trends

Article by Kelvin Kong

Leisure travelers and vacationers mostly try to minimize the cost of lodging, which is quite understandable especially during a time of economic decline such as we have now. Most people are focused on the sights and the itinerary, rather than the hotels and other types of accommodation where they will rest up for the night in. Let’s take a look at some of the trends for hotel preferences when it comes to leisure travelers.

The first main trend is that people seem to be leaning more towards staying in independent hotels compared to the bigger branded hotels that are, conversely, more expensive even if they have more in terms of accommodations and luxury. The main reason for this is perhaps the inherent character and unique flavor afforded by independent carriers, compared to the standard fare of their branded counterparts.

The Ypartnership/Yankelovich 2009 National Travel Monitor found that 20 percent of respondents preferred independent establishments, a figure up from 16 percent in the 2008 survey. Still, the cut is clear-80 percent of respondents still prefer the hotels that are affiliated with larger companies or associated with bigger hotel chains.

Peter C. Yesawich, the chairman and CEO of Ypartnership, attributes this trend to two main factors. “First, a growing number of consumers appear more interested in the novelty and/or special character many independent operators have scripted into their properties,” he said. “Second, the quest for better value, now defined in terms of a more attractive price, appears to be motivating many leisure travelers to evaluate independent alternatives.”

Indeed, independent hotels offer the kind of “attractive price” that potential guests nowadays are looking for. With the financial crunch, many people and even some of the most hardcore leisure travelers are considering the payoff of paying more when one could get quality accommodations for considerably less.

Additionally, respondents to the survey were more inclined to choose limited-service hotels and resorts rather than go to full-service hotels with restaurants. That shift is also indicative of the importance many people started giving to their respective travel budgets.

While the trends point to a bigger patronage of independent hotels, the fact is that bigger chain-affiliated establishments still have many things going their way. When you consider reputation, proven quality, and reliability, then it’s still natural for people to choose those. That’s why the National Travel Monitor survey shows that preference for such hotels are down a mere 4 percent.

With the deep impact of the global economic downturn, should be noted that the budget-conscious traveler is becoming more aware than ever of the need to put a high priority on the price tag when choosing the hotel he or she will end up staying in. It should be noted, though, that there’s no compromise for the kind of service bigger hotel chains can offer, which is why business is still relatively doing well for those kinds of hotels.

Still, it is perhaps safe to expect a subtle continuation of the trends above in the coming quarters, however, as people continue to put their budget first in an economic landscape that is slow to recover.

Cheap Singapore Hotel-Hotel Royal Singapore

Article by Vincent Siew

A stay at a Singapore hotel can be inexpensive because there are many cheap Singapore hotels. An example of a cheap Singapore hotel would be Hotel Royal Singapore. It is located at 36 Newton Road, Singapore 307964.

Hotel Royal Singapore can be said to be strategically located. It takes about eight minutes to walk to the Novena MRT station, which is only two stations away from the Orchard MRT station. MRT stands for Mass Rapid Transit, which is Singapore’s version of the metro, or the subway.

In addition, there is also a bus stop right outside the hotel that can take you to Orchard Road. And as you might already know Orchard Road is a well known and bustling shopping paradise in Singapore.

Dining in the hotel includes the 24-hour Trishaw Coffee House, Jade Room Chinese Restaurant and Kandagawa Japanese Restaurant. If that is not for you, then you could venture out to Newton food center which is close by. There are also restaurants and shops at United Square nearby. And above Novena MRT station you will find Novena Square and Square 2.

For relaxation you can visit the hotel’s massage and sauna facilities. There is a gymnasium and an outdoor swimming pool too. And at the end of a tiring day, why not unwind and have a drink with your family or buddies at the Link Pub, or Aurora Club, or Superstar KTV, or the VIP lounge.

Hotel Royal Singapore has 331 deluxe rooms and suites and there is internet access. It has a three star rating. The staff members are helpful and provide friendly and warm service to all their guests. However, some guests have complained that the rooms look old and that they were disturbed by the noise from the karaoke singing up to one o’clock in the morning. Anyway the corridors look newly renovated and the rooms are relatively spacious and clean.

For the business travelers, you may be pleased to know that there is a 24-hour business center and internet connection at a low fee. For meetings and conferences there are also seminar rooms equipped with the usual audio-visual aids.

At the time of writing the hotel charges an adult from about SGD 177 for a Superior Room to SGD 188 for a Deluxe Room. It could be cheaper if you book your room when there is a special offer.

My trip with Warner Leisure Hotels

Article by Joan Smith

Warner Leisure Hotels are great. I worked for one of the hotels in the chain when I was younger and had always wanted to stay there when I ever got the chance. Although I still want to do this for a while this hasn’t been a huge priority. I went online to see what UK based holiday I could go to with my husband. He has recently lost his passport and as we wanted to go away this month and we haven’t got time to get a new passport so we decided to have a trip away in sunny England. I saw an advertisement for Warner Leisure Hotels and suddenly knew that was where I wanted to do.I went onto their website and looked through all the different accommodation options- I looked at the different hotels and the different lengths of time you could stay. I also looked into what rooms we could stay in. I found the perfect location next to the sea side and knew that’s where I wanted to go. So that’s where I booked. It’s a gorgeous lighthouse next to the sea and is perfect for a long weekend break. I even treated us to one of the best rooms in the place so we’ll have a perfect view when we wake up in the morning. I saved money with voucher codes and cash back options from a great comparison site which allowed me to book online meaning that I didn’t have to waste time on the phone and the booking was free as I didn’t need to pay for the phone call. So, I’m looking forward to my Warner Leisure Hotels trip and can’t wait to see the look on my husband’s face when he sees where we were going. Roll on next month.

Murcia, Spain Golf or Leisure Holiday

Article by Karen Hammond

Have you considered a Murcia Holiday. Spain will always be a popular destination for holiday makers, especially Europeans, but some tend to stick to the well trodden routes of Marbella on the Costa Del Sol or the Northern area of Benidorm. But have you considered a Murcia Holiday?Murcia is seen as a relatively new destination and offers the cultural aspects of Spain with a thriving traditional city full of ornate churches, a central cathedral & a stunning river that runs through the centre of the city. To the South East of the city you can drive for 30 mins and be in a beautiful costal location at the famous Mar Menor. The Mar Menor is essentially a sea lagoon with a delicate sandy bottom, at its deepest point the ocean reaches 20 metres deep, but on the coastal areas you can wade out up to 600 metres and still only be thigh deep into the water, this makes the Mar Menor ideal for families with children who can play on the sandy shores and wade safely into the water with little current and tidal flows. If water sports are your thing you can sail, windsurf, kitesurf, charter a yacht or just laze and sun bathe on the sunny beaches with no football shirts or kiss me quick hats in sight! Fantastic! The Mar Menor has a promenade that follows the shoreline for miles you can walk, bike ride, run or stroll along it at whatever pace you desire. If you want to stay in a location to experience the city and the coast then why not consider the La Torre Golf Resort. The region is fast becoming a mecca for golfing fanatics with many designer courses and La Torre is no exception with its 18 hole Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. With modern apartments, 24 hour security , swimming pools and many additional onsite facilities La Torre is 10 minds Drive from the Mar Menor and 20 mins drive from Murcia. Warner Leisure Hotels for 2010

Article by Joan Smith

I just got back from a trip a couple of weeks ago and already I am planning on another. I wasn’t sure I was going to go to this one but it is an important family function. Besides, I guilted my parents into going so I supposed it wouldn’t do for me to stay home. Of course, one of the things for this trip is to find a suitable hotel. I will start looking this week.I do wish that it was in an area where there are Warner Leisure Hotels. That is absolutely a place I would want to stay. Alas, I am going to one of the very few places that don’t have one of these fab sites. Just for fun, I glanced through the Warner Leisure Hotels website a little while ago. Even though I am planning this new trip, I am keen to go on another. The newest things I noticed on the site are the “Strictly Come Dancing” breaks. Those look like a great deal of fun! I’m sure everyone will have a fantastic time and not have to be judged by Len Goodman! (I like Len Goodman, I just don’t ever want him to see me dance.)Warner Leisure Hotels’ have many special offers, including a room upgrade for half the normal value. There are so many beautiful locations to visit with all of the hotels tailored purely for adult travellers.Don’t forget that when you’re looking to go on holiday to look at a comparison site to find the best possible offers available to you. You may be able to save money on discount rates, voucher codes and cash back options. Don’t forget to also retain your receipt so that you are able to dispute anything that may possible go wrong. Have fun out there!
