Caribbean Travel Deals And Information

Article by Frank Johnson

If you want to travel to the Caribbean, you have many options to choose from. Your Caribbean travel destinations include:

# Antigua and Barbuda# Haiti# Aruba# Jamaica# Bahamas# Martinique# Barbados# Puerto Rico# Cayman Islands# St. Kitts and Nevis# Cuba# St. Lucia# Dominica# St. Vincent and the Grenadines# Dominican Republic# Trinidad and Tobago# Grenada# Turks & Caicos Islands# Guadeloupe# Virgin Islands

Each destination offers its own experiences and exotic ambiance. Use this guide to learn about the Caribbean and what you need to know before you disembark on your trip.

Caribbean Weather

Most people travel to the Caribbean because of the region’s amazing weather. Sunny with a steady breeze, the Caribbean provides ideal weather for hours of sunbathing and frolicking in the ocean. All islands, for the most part, offer the same climate with slight variations in weather patterns here and there (and the occasional tropical rainfall), making any island you select an ideal destination for your tropical paradise.

However, the majority of the Caribbean is within a hurricane belt. This means that during certain times of the year, the Caribbean can be hit by hurricanes. The official hurricane season in the Caribbean is June 1st to November 30th with August to October being peak months. Now even though the hurricane season is smack dab in the middle of prime summer vacation time, you need not worry. With technology today and weather tracking, it’s now possible to identify when a hurricane or major storm will hit. So, if you’re planning a Caribbean travel trip, find out what the current hurricane season is like and how the island of choice will fair during it.

Southern islands such as Barbados and Aruba, on the other hand, lie outside of the Caribbean hurricane belt and almost never fall victim to hurricanes. If you don’t want to worry about planning your Caribbean trip around the hurricane season, the southern islands of the Caribbean are the best way to go.

Caribbean Activities

Each Caribbean destination has its own terrain and landscape, providing its own unique activities. Almost all destinations have amazing beaches, but some also have tropical rain forests and mountains. Puerto Rico, for example, has the only rainforest that’s part of the U.S. National Parks system. Aruba, on the other hand, is one of the only islands that offer a non-tropical environment, offering dryer surroundings. So, depending on your Caribbean travel destination, your activities are limited to the natural makeup of the island. But in general, your activities will include sunbathing, playing in the ocean, nature hikes through the lush terrain (if available), trips into town to purchase the local merchandise, and experiencing the island nightlife.

Caribbean travel destinations are the key to a tropical getaway. With many island destinations to choose from, all offering optimal weather and relaxing activities, the Caribbean is definitely a destination to put on your list of places to visit.

What Is Freelance Food Writing?

Article by Brian Konradt

If you have a good appetite and a way with words, food writing may be a career option to consider. Not only is doing research for food writing one of the more enjoyable tasks in freelance writing, but you’ll never be short of restaurant recommendations and potential free meals — though you may run short of well-fitting pants.

To become a successful freelance food writer, you’ll need to know how to describe food well. The key to description, at least in traditional literature, is to make focused, concrete comparisons. To see why, ask yourself which sentence you find more appealing: “It was the tastiest shrimp I’ve ever eaten,” or “The lime-pressed garlic shrimp, grilled over applewood, had a texture between the crunch of caramelized sugar and the soft resistance of a medium-rare salmon filet”?

The fundamental law of food writing is to make your reader wish that he or she had some of whatever delicious dish you’re writing about, to make the reader personally invested in the food. And there’s a strange quirk in the human mind: whenever we think about an object or activity, we activate the parts of our brain that turn on whenever we’re interacting with that object or engaged in that activity. In other words: if we think about throwing a baseball, the nerves in our arm twitch. Or, if we think about eating a thick steak, our stomach grumbles and our mouth waters. When you’re writing about food, you want to activate those same parts of the brain to make your reader feel that he or she is sharing in the experience of eating it. Words like “tasty,” “delicious,” or, worst of all, “really good,” won’t do anything for your reader’s emotions. Only words related to food — or words and images with strong emotional connotations — will really get your readers’ mouths watering.

Once you’ve written your articles, where do you market your food writing? If you live in a large city, you can write for a local newspaper or an alternative paper (i.e. the LA Weekly, the Austin Chronicle, etc.). Millions of people read these papers daily or weekly, and a good portion of those millions read the food section. When anyone in a major city needs to make restaurant reservations for a date, business dinner, party, or other social engagement, they look in the food section of the local paper for hot new restaurant reviews. Stay on top of restaurant openings and closings in your city. New restaurant openings can be your “bread and butter.” Local newspapers and online city guides are always wanting to print new restaurant reviews.

If you have a favorite local hangout that not many people know about, write an article on it. Submit your article with a proper query letter to a local newspaper. You might be the first one to write about the place, throwing needed business their way. In the end, you collect a decent paycheck from the newspaper, along with a published clip, a byline, and hopefully more work and referrals.

Another option is to write for magazines dedicated to food, dining, city nightlife, general lifestyles, or for the tourist market. If you plan to write for magazines, your choice of what to write about becomes much broader. You can write how-to articles, interview pieces, cookware reviews, and so on. If you plan to write for local tourism guides, your best bet is to write restaurant reviews. Tourists may not know about any of the well-known restaurants or diners in the area. Tourism guides provide insight and guidance to what’s hot and what’s not in the area. This means that there’s a steady flow of potential readers for your restaurant reviews and other food writing.

If you don’t live in a large city, it’s much more difficult to become a food writer. The mom n’ pop cafe downtown may have some of the best omelets you’ve ever tasted, but how are you supposed to sell an article if everyone in town already eats at that cafe every Friday night? Consider selling your articles to regional magazines. The Department of Transportation in several US states often publishes a monthly magazine about regional news. The editors of these magazines often look at local restaurant reviews as a source of human interest, or a way of boosting out-of-state tourism to non-traditional destinations.

Additionally, you might try writing sample copy for cookbooks, press releases for food suppliers, or ads for food companies. Companies and book publishers hire good food writers to help market anything from new varieties of pasta sauce to gourmet steak dishes. Even a nearby supermarket might be willing to pay for copy in weekly ad flyers.

Unfortunately for rural types, full-time food writing is more often than not an urban game. For urban types, food is one of the products that won’t ever stop being popular, especially when it’s offered as part of a good restaurant experience. Thus food writing means job security, and more importantly than that: it’s just outright enjoyable writing. So get to it!

Learn How To Find A Cheap Airline Ticket

Article by GlobalAds

Is airplane ticket’s price your main concern for your travel decision? If it’s not, congratulations! You are the lucky one. But if you are part of the people who may think that traveling by airplane is expensive, then you should find a way to get cheap airline ticket.

There are many tips and guides out there which can easily help you to get cheap airline tickets. I would highlight a few here that are quick and easy from consumer point of view.

The most important tip is to keep your time flexible. If price is your main concern, then time is your rescuer. If you do not need to catch any important meeting or any other event that requires your immediate attention, then you probably can spare your time for the travel anytime. As you know, most of the airline companies have classified a “high peak season” and “low peak season”. Of course when the demand is high, it’s impossible for you to grab the low cost ticket. Therefore, what you can really do is to target all those low cost season. Your flexibility will save you a lot of the ticket price. But, you may be wondering about how to target this low cost ticket? It’s very simple by doing your own due diligence. You can gather a lot of information from the internet, travel agent, or any low cost airline companies on this one. You can simply go to Google and type the “low cost airline company in your country”. That will return you many results. After you have all the information, the next thing is to make the comparison among all those low cost airfare and select the one that best suit your time.

On top of that, watch out for the discount rate that is offered by the airline companies from time to time. As competition is great among all the airline companies, it will definitely benefit us in terms of getting low cost ticket. There are many ticket discount sites available on the internet. Simply search on it and compare each other in order to get the best deal. Internet is full of useful information for you to find out the cheap airfare. Spare some time and you can get your cheap ticket to your dream destination. As a reminder, do not book the ticket after you feel that the ticket is cheap. Do more research on different companies. You may find out that the price may vary greatly from one to another. How about if you do not have internet connection? Well, you may always look for the advertisement from the newspaper or walk in to the travel agent. Most of the travel agent has connection with the airline companies. Simply walk in and ask as many questions as possible from them. Some of the good travel agent will provide you recommendations to get cheap airfare. As always, do not over excited and made the wrong decision. Do more survey on other travel agents. Please always bear in mind that a lot of travel agents are willing to lower the price in order to beat their competition. Consequently, your dream vacation can become reality despite of shoestring budget.

Next thing that you need to practice is to choose your travel package wisely. For most of the destination, different travel agent will provide different package. You have to make your choice. If accommodation is not a concern for you, try to select those packages with the longer length of stay so that you have the maximum days of visit.

When you do the research on the airline companies, you may realize that the airfare differ greatly. The more expensive airfare normally comes with more comfortable seat and the meal supplied on the plane. But since you are looking for cheap airline ticket, why care about it? The most important thing is you can reach your dream destination. Sometimes you may realize the low cost airline companies have limited departing terminal. The airport terminal may be far away from your area. Do not let this to put you down. You may consider catching that flight by other means of public transport like bus or training provided you have plenty of time. In short, you still have the chance to get the cheap airline ticket.

Finally, do not be shy. Most of the people know there might be some cheap ticket available, but they just not brave enough to ask about it simply because they scare to be laughed by others. This is very incorrect attitude. Do not let this happen to you and become your main obstacle in getting cheap airline ticket. Remember, nothing to be shy of. It’s very smart instead because you know to grab the good opportunity.

Discover Cairns – Top 7 Caravan Parks

Article by Jenny Brewer

A tropical haven of sandy beaches, palm trees, reef islands and rainforests, Cairns is the perfect location for a Queensland holiday. The benefits of travelling by campervan go on and on, the most obvious being you have the freedom to pack up and go on to another location at any time. There are also great savings in accommodation costs, including the added benefits offered by the caravan andholiday parks we have listed below. In no special order, they are our pick of the many fantastic parks available in and around Cairns.

1. Crystal Cascades Holiday Park (Rocks Road, Redlynch 1800 351 376)

Located just fifteen minutes from the city centre, this park is fantastic if you arelooking for idyllic surroundings close to many of the surrounding attractions. Popular with bird watchers, there is a shopping centre a few minutes drive away and just fifteen to the beach. Enjoy some family time on the tennis court or just relax and enjoy the quiet. The good news is there are no mozzies or sandflies here so you can relax in peace. Facilities and amenities are excellent and the perfect home away from home.

2. Cairns Coconut Resort (Cnr Bruce Highway & Anderson Road, Cairns 1800 636 622)

You will love it here. The Cairns Coconut Resort is surrounded by almost thirty acresof pristine grounds framed by palms, tropical gardens and rainforest. Located just seven minutes from the city you are still based centrally with plenty of things to do within the resort, including mini golf, tennis courts, volleyball and basketball to name a few. There is also a lagoon with hot and cold spas, waterslide for the kids, table tennis, bike track and heaps more for the kids. This place has every type of activity you could imagine even before you leave the front gates. If you are looking for a child friendly park, this is the one!

3. Cairns Villa Resort and Leisure Park (28 Pease Street, Cairns 1800 644 861)

Another award winning park, you are only four kilometres from the city. There is plenty of room to move with ten acres of gardens, and a saltwater pool the perfect place for a cool down. All the essentials are here, along with a pool table, table tennis and tv room. What appeals to me is the location, so convenient to visit the local attractions or head inland and still come back to a relaxing environment. Very clean and excellent service.

4. Coolwaters Holiday Park (Brinsmead Road, Cairns 07 4034 1949)

Located only seven minutes from the city, you will feel like you are living in an oasis, with a freshwater creek and mountainous views in the backyard. This has my vote for its location and beauty, especially for those really wanting to get away and totally relax. Set in a tropical rainforest, you might want to stay put for a few days before you start exploring the rest of Cairns. The staff are great, with a guided rainforest walk, pizza night, entertainment, scone morning and lots more. The Kuranda Skyrail is just down the road, so you will be guaranteed plenty of action right on your doorstep. This park is an experience in itself, and thoroughly recommended.

5. Lake Placid Caravan Park (Lake Placid Rd, Cairns 07 4039 2509)

Just north of Cairns and below the Barron River Gorge National Park, the award winning Lake Placid Tourist Park is situated on acres of rainforest and is the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. A fantastic base for your holiday, this beautiful hideaway offers many walking tracks with birds and wildlife everywhere, and children will love feeding the fish, turtles and ducks at Lake Placid. You are close to popular attractions including the Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic Railway, with Cairns, Port Douglas and Cape York all within driving distance.

6. Cairns Sunland Leisure Park (49-61 Pease St, Manoora 1800 786 5263)

Only four kilometres from the city centre, the Cairns Sunland Leisure Park offers a multi purpose destination for those wanting a base to enjoy everything the tropics has to offer. With a fantastic pool, waterfall and wading pool plus a great playground there’s plenty for the kids. Enjoy the free barbeque sites throughout the park as well as a stocked mini mart if you don’t feel like another shopping trip. This is my pick for being such a central and versatile park.

7. Port Douglas Glengarry Holiday Park (Mowbray River Road, Port Douglas 1800 888 134)

Close enough to Cairns to be worth including, this delightful park is only minutes away from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Four Mile Beach. Nestled in spacious palm fringed grounds, the Mowbray River is close enough for a spot of fishing, bird watching or a dip in the resort style pool. This is fantastic for a few days or more enjoying another aspect of the tropics and the beauty of the top end.

Open Your Restaurant With New Restaurant Furniture..

Article by Garrigan Rainer

A friend of mine desired to open a restaurant, so we thought to sit down and start planning out all the points of it. When we got to the section of selecting the furniture for the restaurant, it were very interesting. There are a variety of styles and colors of restaurant furniture that you can select from. We literally spent one week just looking around to local restaurant suppliers that have restaurant furniture for sale. A few of this furniture was used, but even now in good shape. This permitted us the option of saving lots more money when starting our restaurant that could be used for something different.

Though we were out and nearly looking at furniture for the restaurant, we observed there were three things that will be necessary for sure in the establishment. The first product that we must select is tables for the restaurant. Restaurant tables really set apart your place of eating from others if you can go for a style and color that suits the theme were environment you are choosing. There are different styles of wood and laminate that is suggested for tables, so you will have more options than you do time to select the furniture.

After we looked at a variety of tables, we got to the next item that must be put in the restaurant. Restaurant chairs were the next item on the list and again we had hundreds of differing types of alternatives to select from. We first thought to ourselves, if we were a customer visiting this restaurant which kind of chair would we want to sit for at least 40 minutes while we had our food. This is based on what kind of restaurant you are opening, but metal chairs for your restaurant with padding are a great choice that is fairly cheap.

The last item on the list was the complicated for us to make a final choice. Restaurant booths were the third and ultimate item we knew we must have when it came to picking furniture for our new establishment. Once again we were returned at the place of asking what sort of booths we would desire to sit in if we were customers in the business. This is really a great way of thinking to start choosing for since it enables you to really feel what the customer needs, not what you think the customer wants. This is one thing we decided to make sure not to cut costs on. We were willing to spend money on the two most significant factors, comfort and quality, for the booths that were to go in our restaurant.
