What Is A Lease?
A leasehold is a form of property or business tenure where the leaseholder buys the right to occupy land or a building for a specified length of time. Until the end of the agreed lease period the leaseholder has the right to remain in occupation of the property or business as a tenant paying an agreed rent to the owner.
What is a Greene King pub lease?
Greene King Pub leases are minimum length of 10 years with the flexibility to extend in 5 year periods to a maximum of 25 years. As the leaseholder you do have the right to sell the goodwill of your lease after 3 years. Greene King pub leases are known as a ‘fully repairing’ which means that the leaseholder will be responsible for all the on-going repairs and insurance for the building. Although you don’t have any responsibility for improving the property, you still have to maintain it in a satisfactory state.
How much is a Greene King pub lease?
Your pub lease amount will be set at the start of the Agreement for the first 5 years, and will be subject to the annual Retail Prices Index (RPI) increase. The increase is capped at 4.75%.
