Ski Resort Careers

If you are like most people, you have probably never considered taking a job at a ski resort. At first glance, ski resorts may not seem to offer a great deal of career options, but upon closer inspection you must just find the job you have always dreamed about. resorts offer a plethora of full-time, ladder-climbing type careers. So many professional opportunities are offered at ski lodges that there are quite a few well-paid residents who reside near the resorts all year long. Generally speaking, there are three types of jobs: full-time year-round, full-time seasonal and seasonal.

The reason you may not have thought of a ski resort as being a viable place to begin a career is that most employees on resorts are of the seasonal sort. Usually, these are young people who have just graduated from college and are experimenting a bit in the job field before settling down into their careers. Sometimes seasonal employees are taking time away from school or simply waiting out the time they have between achieving a bachelor’s degree and beginning their master’s study. Seasonal jobs are not the kind of job anyone wants to have forever, but they are okay for young people who are getting a start in the hospitality industry or who simply require a little bit of something to put on their resume.

Seasonal jobs are great for those wanting to break into the industry. Anyone who has spent the last decade or so at a job they did not especially enjoy may find that once they have moved to ski resort towns to begin a new career, seasonal jobs are the easiest to obtain.

Full-time seasonal jobs are available as well. These tend to pop up during the ski season, but there are also some jobs which may make themselves available during the summertime. Examples of these ski season positions include ski patrols, ski school managers and mountain guides. Those resorts which host guests for summer vacations will have a number of summer seasonal openings, such as fishing and river guides or mountain climbing guides. Such openings can also be found in national parks, which attract a number of college students as well. Some employees are lucky enough to be brought on for both winter and summer positions, though they are likely to be different positions during each respective season.

The final job category is the most coveted: ski resort jobs which have blossomed into full-time careers. Management is made up of a full-time staff, including marketing professionals, human resource managers, office staff members and department heads. One with enough hospitality experience can always submit themselves for such openings, but without experience it is a good idea to take a seasonal job first. Even taking a job as a secretary can be beneficial at ski resorts; there is always room to grow as well as new things to learn about the business. And there are quite a few resort spots who prefer to hire from within, this way employees who understand the inner workings of the hotel will go on to inspire further excellence.

Dog Friendly Pubs in SuffolkWhether you’re visiting Suffolk for the first time, or are a frequent visitor, or resident, it’s nice to know where you can go with your pets. Suffolk has a wide range of Dog Friendly Pubs dotted all over. While some request that you keep your pets in the outside garden or terrace area, many allow pets inside the pub as well. Here is a selection of pubs across Suffolk which allow pets either in the pub or in the garden.The The Sorrell Horse Inn in Woodbridge offers an open door policy to pets. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the pub, and the pub features an outdoor garden area open to both people and pets.

The Griffin Inn in Yoxford allows dogs in the public bar and garden, however, they do ask that you not bring your pets into the restaurant area.

The Red Lion in Needham Market allows well behaved dogs.

In Bury St. Edmunds, The White Horseallows dogs in the pub and garden areas, though not in the inn rooms. Also in Bury, The Bush has a well behaved dogs allowed policy in the pub.

Ipswich pub The White Horse at Tattingstone has both an open pet policy in the pub as well as featuring a garden which is dog friendly. Also in Ipswich, The Greyhound allows well behaved dogs.

Anchor Inn in Nayland has a terraced area where pets are welcome. The Inn, however, is pet free. The Bildestone Crown allows well behaved dogs in the pub, as does The Kings Head Inn in Orford, which allows dogs in both the pub, and in rooms. The Cock Inn in Polstead is also a good place for pets, with dogs allowed in the pub.

In Lindsey, The Lindsey Rose allows well behaved dogs. The Cherry Tree in Belchamp St. Paul allows dogs, excepting during meal times. The same rule applies at The George and Dragon in Long Melford, where dogs are allowed as long as food isn’t being served.

Crown Hotel in Southwold allows dogs in the bar areas, but not in the rooms or dining areas. The George in Cavendish has a terrace which is pet friendly, though dogs are not allowed in the pub itself.

Woodbridge’s The Ship Inn is dog friendly, as is The Angel Inn Wangford (though dogs are not allowed in the rooms). Royal Oak Inn in Framlingham has an open door policy for pets, as does the Butley Oyster in Rendlesham. Finally, The Brantham Bull in Manningtree has a great garden which is pet friendly, though they do ask that you be sure and clean up after them!

What are you doing to locate the best cruise ship job vacancies? Is your strategy working so far? If not, you may want to rethink your course of action. You may be interested to know that the vast majority of cruise line jobs are filled by word of mouth, or they’re offered to proactive individuals who have already sent in their resume with cover letters to the cruise lines. In fact upwards of 97% of these jobs aren’t even advertised online, or anywhere for that matter. This means, many opportunities may be slipping through your fingers without your knowledge

If all you’ve been doing is looking around online to find cruise ship employment, you’re severely limiting your reach. ?These positions are often unique to a specific cruise line, and sometimes individual cruise ships. So they can fall under the radar pretty easily. If you keep in regular contact with a particular cruise line by taking the above approach and sending your resume to them every month or two, you’ll more likely get noticed, and the cruise line will notice your persistence.

Cruise ship job fairs are another great way to find job vacancies. Many of the super liners like Norwegian or Carnival Cruise Lines frequently conduct job fairs. They are held in many locations around the world quite regularly.  Actively attending these job fairs can land you a job rather quickly, especially if you connect well with one of the recruiters. 

It’s also very advisable to use a recruiting agency. Like most jobs in the travel industry, turnover is quite high due to the fact that many who work in the industry view working on a cruise ship as an “adventure” of sorts. So cruise ships are always on the lookout for employees to fill positions. Not only that, but cruise ship job agencies are often run by ex cruise workers, so they have contacts you certainly wouldn’t have. This can be extremely useful if you play your cards right and impress the agency. Just make sure you’re aware of all the fees (if any) that you’ll need to pay the agency for their services.

Snow Ski Dubai is located in the Mall of the Emirates shopping complex on the Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai. Ski Dubai is the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East and offers an amazing snow setting to enjoy skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing or just playing in the snow. There are 5 runs that vary in difficulty, height and steepness. The longest run being 400 meters with a fall of over 60 meters. Skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels will enjoy these various slopes and snowboarders can also practice their stunts on the 90-metre long quarter pipe.

Dubai Creek & Abra Cruise is highly recommended for visitors to experience the Dubai creek as it is the foundation from which Dubai grew into a port for trading vessels sailing between India, Africa and the Middle East. Today, some of the old shipping culture still remains and visitors can view some of the original buildings that have served as customs houses. The dinner cruise option is popular.

Dubai Museum is situated in Bur Dubai and is incorporated in the Al Sahidi Fort. The Fort was built in the late 18th century and was in the past a seat for the government and the rulers main residence. The restored fort now provides a fascinating insight into olden days in Dubai.

Dubai Tower is the world’s tallest building located near Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai between Dubai city and Jumeirah Beach.
